Oldies…Always Goodies

haring keith ohne titel 2200083 Oldies...Always Goodies

** So, last Saturday I was starting to spin my opening set when I went to put on one of the tracks that I usually spin between 10-1045, which I believe was the track “Lady Don’t Tek No” by Latryx (which has been a staple in my library since the 1st party I spun out in clubs.) Anyways, the track was not showing up in my Serato. I started to trip out a bit and then searched for another staple in my library and it was not there. It was like they never existed on my computer. It turned out that I had somehow erased about 1/3 of my music library while messing around with my itunes earlier in the day. I’m pretty much done venting and complaining about this since it has now been a week since it happened, but it moves me toward my topic which obviously has something to do with the title of this article. The next day after realizing I had lost so much stuff I began searching through all my music from various external hard drives and ipod’s. I began finding music that I hadn’t listened to in a long time. It was almost like I had gotten so caught in trying to rock a dance floor that I forgot what makes a good record. There is so much good music out there that it is crazy and it seems that the more music you get exposed to, the more you forget about what you were listening to a year ago. Some of the tracks I’ve found in the last week are making me wonder what I’ve been doing with out them in my life. So today I’m gonna post some tracks that may be new to you or maybe they are old to you. Maybe they’re so old to you that you will appreciate them as much as I am right now.

ok…So the 1st song is “Patti Dooke” by De La Soul. It’s off their album “Buhloone Mindstate”. it’s one of their lesser known albums but definately one of their best. Very jazzy song, it reminds me off an episode of the Cosby Show. The second song is “Playboy” by Hot Chip. It’s off their first album. Probably my favorite song on the album. They said in an interview with some magazine that I forget now that when they recorded thi song they were highly influenced by “Cry Me a River.” If you listen to it with headphones on then you really get the idea. The next song is “Work that we do” by Sublime. It’s off the “Robbin the Hood” album. Great album..Recorded mostly through a four-track and with an 808 drum machine. I believe they were holed up somewhere doing drugs too during the recording. The last song is by Tom Vek, called “C-C set the fire in me.” Off one of my favorite albums in its respective year. The entire album is produced, played, and sang by Tom Vek, entirely.that’s it.
