The winds were mellow and the sky casted a slight shade of melancholy. Though this sounds like a setting for an Alfred Hitchcock movie, Robin Thicke was still able to catch up with imeem to drop an exclusive performance for the Hive at Yerba Buena Park. Like a thief to bank robbery, the performance was one swift motion. A few lucky fans squeezed in the two second photo ops and hugs while others stood still to receive the acoustic performance.
Due props goes to Will, Daniel, Brige and Nate for the setup and follow-though in production of this fine footage while Thicke was in town for his tour. Below are exclusive stills of his performance of “Magic” and “Lost Without You” that will release before his third solo album entitled Something Else, on September 9th, 2008. Enjoy folks…the (extended) weekend is once again up us.
Monday August 25th, the re-openning of Colette Store in Paris, after a month and a half of constructions, the first pictures are on colette.fr. Its true that it looks pretty new, but for me not looking to fancy, I mean it looks like a Streetwear shop from Tokyo..Anyways, i’ll be in Paris in few days and will let you know what is really look like…

Could we start seeing more Dita Von Teese’s roaming the streets?
If you live in the New England area Fall means one thing, rain. Granted there is gorgeous weather throughout but there is lots and lots of rain. Thankfully we have an array of stylish wellingtons “wellies” for you to brave the fall downpours in, stylishly of course. Here are our favorites!
It’s been a long Wednesday morning but I’m not going to dwell too much on it. Just as these worldly structures are man made, feelings are as well. If it can be resurrected, it can be dismantled. I feed off the positive energy filter the funk. The sky only stays grey for a short period and not a second longer.
I was delighted to come home and see a nice package of visual literature from Annie over at 55DSL. Along side the Fall Winter 08/09 lookbook (were also stickers and the new issue of Vapors: The Sneaks Issue. Those who know me, know that sneakers and I have a ongoing relationship. This issue featured interviews from sneaker heads, America’s most sought after kicks, sneaker bistro plugs and anything sole capturing. You get your copy at select locations or read it online here.

Thursday was the opening night for Kazuo’s new build-out at Hollywood Trading CO. in Fred Segal, Santa Monica. The fall 08 Collection looks great as usual, with hand finished details and flawless construction. The buld-out is very representational of teh kind of work that Joel K. and his team put into the brand. Look closely at the walls. The red walls are all hand stripped pieces of red tape. Today is the official launch of Revolve, the first Brick & Mortar platform for RevolveClothing.com. As a result of the steady growth of their online shop which they launched in 2003, just at the beginning of major e-commerce fashion sites, they have decided to open their doors to Los Angeles shoppers in one of L.A.’s most exclusive shopping areas. The shop is located on Melrose near LA Cienega beside favorites such as Marc Jacobs, A.P.C., Marni, and Diane Von Furstenburg among others. However in the mix of all these great shops Revolve will maintain a destination shop. It shadows petite homestyle restuarant Taste and shy’s away from the sidewalk by just a few steps. The best way to start a weekend is at a open bar. For those of you around the area (and by “area”, I mean Santa Monica), John Varvatos and Fred Segal are hosting a open bar to kick-off the new shop. While you’re there, check out the shop-within-a-shop celebrating JV’s CBGB store and all of the noted designer’s clothing. The reception starts at 6 p.m. Enjoy!

The Fall “must have” bags include elements of everything we love in trends. Namely fringe, military elements, ruffles, and the shiny black latex look. Givenchy’s East West Military Hobo brings studs to the forefront, Prada’s Napa A Hobo uses ruffles for a more feminine look, Jimmy Choo’s Fringe Hobo is a bit more on the trendy side but I still love it, and finally the Jil Sander diamond bag not available online yet but OMG is it beautiful.
I present to you a glorified vision of space, light and translucent objects captured by photographer Raymond Meier for The Moment.

Yet another exclusive. This time Crate & Barrel offers typographers (and the public) the Alpha Coffee Table. With each letter resembling a single oversize letterpress unit, it flushes out a sturdy 36” steel frame and incorporates wood block font families, all while not discriminating against icon ornaments and San Serifs. Below is a brief of the table provided by Crate & Barrel. MORE inside the post
Almost every fashion trend is a throwback of some kind. However, I have been noticing some extreme character throwbacks. For instance, Lou Doillon channeling the Artful Dodger as well as more than just a few lovelies such as Coco Rocha + Milla Jovovich channeling Cat Woman whose latex costume was made famous by Julie Newmar. Who’s next? Minnie Mouse? oh wait, too late.

The 37-year-old’s work has been successful all over the world (hanging) Li Wei sees his art as a mission to set the scene for the perfect photograph and a perfect performance (hand sky). He specializes in creating the illusion of dangerous reality, The artist employs a mix of acrobatics, Wei admits sometimes he is in real danger, The ‘jumper’ says he aims to go as high as possible with his work. Here he appears buried in the ground. The artist says people do get a little worried about him Unbelievable Pictures:
Photographer Jean-François Lepage’s work has been featured in magazines such as Another Man, Vogue UK, L’Uomo Vogue, Italian Amica, and Vogue Homme amongst others.
His style is uncanny as he uses vivid colors and elements of graphic design to distort (or enhance depending how you look at it) the beauty of those he is photographing. Here are some of my favorites.
First and foremost, I would like to thank CyanaTrendLand for the opportunity to be the premiere guest blogger. For my first entry, I would like to draw attention to Michael C. Place. In 2001, he conceptualized and developed London based design firm Build. Between building a brand and name and his feature in the film Helvetica, his work caught the attention of the good folks of Refill7.
Sometimes when you look back in time, you usually find some really cool ideas and concept, for example the Fall/Winter 1999 lookbook of Etro - Almost 10 years and the result and idea is pretty sick ! Love it
It was love at fist sight when I saw these illustrations by Leesa Leva. I love her stroke and the use of gouache, one of my favorite mediums for illustration. Her work is available for purchase on her shop here.
The Selby is Photographer Todd Selby’s blog where he photographs his friends and subjects in their homes. His exploration of this concept is very alluring from a spectators point of view. The home is the most private and intimate space most people can resort to. To be able to enter the homes of known and unknown characters and analyze their lifestyle’s through the eyes of a photographer is truly fascinating.
Supermodel Erin Wasson as been shot in her NY Apt - these shot are from the really cool Website called The Selby. Check out our post on The Selby Here. MORE inside the post
