There are those that start each day with a cup of coffee, some with a jog around the neighborhood, some with a shower and the rest with inspiration. If you agree with the latter half, Milton Glaser would like to tell you why “Art Is Work” in this inspiration video shot for Adobe.
Going to school for design made me conscious about trends, do’s / dont’s and most importantly pioneers of design. Glaser, best known for the I Heart New York logo and the “DC bullet” logo used by DC Comics from 1977 to 2005 also founded New York Magazine with Clay Felker in 1968. You will be able to withdrawal from this video, that the man has been through so much. A plethora of wisdom lies deeply embedded in his soul waiting to sprout and seed through words and visuals. I would like to share the most inspirational closing quote by Glaser.
“The most interesting thing that one can say about your later life is that if you can sustain your interest in what you are doing, you are extremely fortunate person. What you see very frequently in peoples personal life and perhaps emotional life as well is that they loose interest in the third act. They sort of get tired and indifferent and sometimes defensive and you kind of loose your capacity for astonishment – and thats a great loss because the world IS a very astonishing place…So I think what I feel fortunate about is that I’m still astonished that things still amaze me and thats the great benefits of being in the arts is where the possibilities for learning never disappears, where you basically have to admit you never learned it.”
Now, let the day begin.
