Amelia’s World : Animal Affinity

amelias world animal affinity Amelias World : Animal Affinity

Robin Schwartz makes meticulously composed, disquieting portraits of her daughter, Amelia, interacting with a range of exotic animals, from monkeys to kangaroos. Her startling portraits reference painting and hint at open-ended narratives. Her work is in the collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York; Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, D.C.; and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, among other institutions.

These photographs are absolutely to die for. I can not help but be curios about this little girl Amelia, she must have the balanced and calm state of being. I can imagine interaction with so much wildlife at such an early age has definitely set a major tone for her future.

A Book called Tinyvices: Amelia’s World of all of the photographs was published last month on New York. You can pick it up here.
