Stefano Pilati’s latest obsession is an original collection designed for women which has been inspired by the latest Yves Saint Laurent Men Spring/Summer collection. The artistic director has used key outfits from his mens collection (blazer, costume, shirt, trouser, trench..) that he adjusted to the womens size in order to create 17 “unisex” silhouettes. This special line called “Edition Unisexe” will be sold during the Fall/Winter fashion weeks in the main fashion capitals. It will be available at the mens corner of the Yves Saint Laurent stores in London, Milan, Paris, and in a special pop-up store (55 Great Jones @ Bowery) in New York. Mr Pilati’s new line seems to be inspired from his personal outfits, so if you want to dress like Yves Saint Laurent’s designer, you can find these creations in New York from the 13th to the 20th of February, in London from the 20th to the 24th of February, in Milan from the 25th of February to the 04th of March and in Paris from the 5th to the 12th of March.

“Designed for women”??? But the whole point of this capsule collection is that it is unisex!

Actually, the collection is called Unisex only because it is inspired by the men collection, but it is designed for women. I was also quite surprised when I read the press kit, but it doesn’t stop men to wear this collection.

Sorry, but you are incorrect. I have the press release and have been to the store in New York City – both of which say it is called a unisex collection because it is designed for men and women. If it was designed for women and inspired by the men’s line, they would name it androgenous as opposed to unisex.

I guess we didn’t have the same press release then. My contact at YSL office just confirmed it.
