Band of Outsiders 2009 Fall/Winter Collection Lookbook was shot by designer Scott Sternberg (who recently tied with Calvin Klein’s Italo Zucchelli as the CFDA’s menswear designer of the year) with a sun drenched iconic Polaroid-aesthetic. Sternberg took indie pin-up boy Jason Schwartzman to Chinatown in LA, and the filmic style of the shoot works perfectly with a collection that was inspired by the young idealists from the 1967 film Le Chinois by Jean-Luc Godard. Sternberg has a knack for pouring big names into the smallish pieces that make up his collection; most notably Kirsten Dunst, Marisa Tomei and Sarah Silverman for his Boy by Band of Outsiders women’s line.

Mobile Suit Gundam is a televised anime series, created by Sunrise. Created and directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino, it premiered in Japan on Nagoya Broadcasting Network between April 7, 1979 and January 26, 1980, spanning 43 episodes. The series has since gone on to become a symbol of anime worldwide.
For the 30th anniversary of the original series, a life size Gundam was created and placed in the streets of Tokyo. Other models have been made, but this is the largest and most elaborate ever to have been created. For those of you in Tokyo, today is the last day to see it! Pretty cool stuff.

Cass Mccombs: Prima Donna
![Song of the Day : [08/31] mccombs cass catacombs Song of the Day : [08/31]](http://cyanatrendland.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/mccombs_cass_catacombs.jpg)
Cass Mccombs has been in the music biz for a while. To this date, he has released five albums, and is just starting to get the attention he deserves. Mccombs music first got my attention when a friend played me the song “Thats That” of his 2007 release, “Dropping the Writ”. That song remains one of my favorite songs all around. But none of the other songs on that album lived up to its brilliance. Fortunately, Mccombs has released a new album, “Catacombs” which has the consistency of his tender harmony genius throughout. The album flows nicely the whole way through. Each song as enjoyable as the next. Its easy to get side tracked with these sweet melodies playing.

Christopher Griffith went from biochemistry to genetics to photography. Did you catch that jump? Life is all about those moments in your life when something deep inside of your gut is telling you to take a completely contrasting path, listening to it, and it becoming your reality. It’s one of those things you can not even seek counsel on because generally it is so far outside the limitations of the path you have thus far created that ‘the feeling’ is enough to run with. Griffith seems to be a classic example of that and perhaps in some bias way that draws me even closer to his work.
Though I live and breathe fashion there is something about properly composed still life’s that fascinates me even more at times. I can definitely see Griffith’s background in bio chemistry in a lot of theses works, each still life is perfectly tailored as though it would not function any other way. Be sure to check out his entire portfolio and his books. See more on Christopher Griffith’s website.

Sexy, sultry, moody, smoky eyes, dark full lips, seedy hotel rooms – this is what Sam Hessamian’s photography is all about. Beautiful women drifting through the dark corners of Paris’s urban architecture, or staring provocatively straight into the camera – smoking, brooding, film noirish – beautiful fashion photography. In Hessamian’s work, elegance and emotions blend perfectly. For those who admire this kind of photography you’ll find plenty of inspiration on his website.

Samantha Zaza is a self confessed “compulsive sketcher, tea drinker, nomad”. She is also a fantastic graphic artist as her amusing Coup series demonstrates. The series is a selection of colour pencil drawings of pigeons “with Napoleonic complexes”. Zaza moves around between Istanbul and San Fransisco, she blogs and she exhibits her drawings at Studio Gallery on Polk Street in San Fransisco.

Famous spinner DJ AM was tragically found dead in his NYC apartment this week. In September of 2008, DJ AM and Barker nearly died while escaping the burning remains of their airplane. The two had planned to perform together for the first time since the crash at an event in Los Angeles on New Year’s Eve this year.

The circumstances of his death are unclear but he was apparently found with multiple prescription bottles and a pipe used to smoke crack. Some sources have said he was still struggling with MORE inside the post
