Rosalind Keep : Trompe L’Oeil Collection

rosalind keep trompe l’oeil collection 600x798 Rosalind Keep : Trompe L’Oeil Collection

I always liked Trompe L’Oeil concepts, and this one from London College of Fashion undergraduate designer Rosalind Keep gives a breath of fresh air from what we are seeing in fashion. The Trompe L’Oeil collection for the Oasis Designer Collab’ consists of a combination of tanks, dresses and sweaters with creatively printed lines on otherwise painfully boring clothing.

Advertising Mash-up by Philippe Deliere

philippe deliere-ad collage-2

We introduced to the ingenious guerrilla art of Philippe Deliere aka Poster Boy exactly one year ago today (pure coincidence – see article here). How appropriate to praise his newer work today. Here is a compilation of collages created by Deliere using print magazine cut-outs. The guy really has a great sense of visual narration.

Hanes “No Scratchy Labels” Campaign

hanes-no scratchy labels-1

This brilliantly executed campaign for the “No Scratchy Label” concept of Hanes is so simple and so effective. Unfortunately I am unable to locate the agency that produced this but stay tuned in the comments to see who it is.

Song of the Day : [11/18]

Land of Giants : Cannibal Dolls

cannibal dolls-seven men

This is the sound that a ton of contemporary bands are trying to emulate. And if they did it this successfully, I’d fully support them.  As it is, “Cannibal Dolls” was the a-side on the one record that Land of Giants ever released… in 1982. It’s paranoid ‘n’ eerie synth lines match its lyrics: “Lock up your children/Devils in disguise/Lock up your children/Devils in their ey-eyes.” The band recorded a number of other demos throughout the 80’s, which, in response to overwhelming requests, are now being released together, here

GAS’D – “Met Her On Thursday”

IMG 0800 GASD Met Her On Thursday

Much like watching an indie film at Cannes or Sundance, this picturesque dream-like sequence of images brings you into the moment; their moment. An overwhelming feeling of love met, love chased, and love missed leaves a permanent imprint in one’s mind. Grainy images of still life and characters of anonymity fused with an ambient soundtrack slideshow to tell a story.

Art School Confidential : Stine Ladefoged

Stine Ladefoged-5

Recent graduate of The Danish Design School MA program, Stine Ladefoged has shared with Trendland the process for creating her graduating collection as well as the inspiration and philosophy behind it. “In my final MA project, called ”Narcissism is Calling”, I’ve been inspired by postmodern influences, especially postmodern architecture and the typical postmodern human being, who wants to be in the center of attention,” said the designer.

CTRL SS10 LOOKBOOK

CTRL SS10 1-1

CyanaTrendLand [via Alaia Izabela] provides the first internet leak of CTRL’s SS10 collection. The lookbook is incredibly large [at around 112 pages, no joke] but the colors, styling, photography, and models keep you hungrily flipping right through to the very end. Abundant are subtle acid wash denims in coral and black, as well as cropped and non-cropped jeans in plain black or white for both women and men.

Ivan Puig Art

Spanish born artist Ivan Puig likes the mix of contradictions told in a way of poetry, where he takes simple objects and ideas and applies a level of cerebral complexity that defines his art. I love the sinking car, I just wonder how he did that…
