Lights are always super important in photography, that’s why big names photographers are known for their unique lighting (usually set up by their assistants). Lighting takes time to understand and control, but once you know how to play with it, the result is often stunning !

Rehab never looked so appealing as it does in this brilliant editorial shot by Steven Meisel for Italian Vogue, July 2007. Good work does not have an expiration tag and this concept is one that will relive time and again. Parts of the story told in SuperMods Enter Rehab was rumored to be referencing the madness that visited Brittney around the same time. Crotch shots and shaved heads may be a normal occurrence in rehab but considering the paparazzi style in which Meisel shot, its almost certain Brittany was definitely a large inspiration for this editorial. Looking back on this editorial is even crazier than it was to see it then because the super star cast including Lara, Sasha, Masha, Irina, Guinevere, Agyness, Denisa, Iselin, Missy, and Tasha seems mind blowing, all the new faces of supermodels in one massive, cracked out shoot! Brilliant content! See full spread onPaperMode

A beautiful 50s / 60s classic Hollywood glamour inspired shoot for this “Stardust” Editorial with Viktoriya Sasonkina shot by Steven Meisel and styled by Andrew Richardson for Vogue Italia September 2008
The PRADA 2009 Spring/ Summer Ad campaign is stunning! According to VOGUE it was inspired by ” ancient stone bas-reliefs and a desire to return to basic emotional and physical dimensions in classical art and early culture”. It was shot by Steven Meisel.
The NewYorker wrote a great article about Pascal Dangin owner of the Box Studios. The Box Studio is THE retouching studio, based in NewYork meatpacking district, The Box is working for every single fashion campaign and Magazine – In the world of photo retouching Pascal is a rock star. He is what’s referred to as a “Master Retoucher” – the best there is – and is working with such famed photographers as Annie Leibovitz, Steven Meisel, Patrick Demarchelier and Craig McDean amongst others…
He brings photo retouching to a higher level – almost giving images an artistic quality - and should not be confused with those who hack apart images for certain magazine covers….
Not quite a subtle point but still a marvelous concept…It was both during Milan fashion week and the fifth anniversary of 9/11 here in New York making it a fitting time to bring you this stunning photo shoot by Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia Sept. 2006 with models Hilary Rhoda & Iselin Steiro
Model Iselin Steiro seems to have a strange fondness for her reflection… I must admit, if I were dressed from head to toe in Lanvin gowns, there would be little stopping me from kissing my reflection as well.
Yum Yum! 1000-pieces limited edition jigsaw puzzle of an image Steven Meisel shot for Vogue Italia. The puzzle comes in a hand-made cloth box signed and numbered by Meisel from 1 -1000. This is a brilliant image for a puzzle, all the hues of red in the different fabrics will make it a great challenge to put together. It is going for a modest $750 and can be purchased at the International Center of Photography. Really not a bad price for a collector’s piece.
