Marie-Claire did a interesting compilation of the 50 Best Fashion Stores in America, State by State and in alphabetic order. We do not agree with a few of them, and they also missed some great ones, but hey! Its Marie-Claire after all….

Mayer Hawthorne : Just Ain’t G

It is hard to differentiate him from the genre of artists Mayer Hawthorne draws his inspiration from, including music of Smokey Robinson, Curtis Mayfield, and the legendary songwriting and production trio of Lamont Dozier, Brian Holland, and Eddie Holland Jr. I was shocked when I saw a picture of this dude and found out this music was contemporary, but apparently so was Peanut Butter Wolf, when Hawthorne brought him his music for consideration of representation under Wolf’s, Stones Throw Label. “He showed me two songs and I didn’t understand what I was listening to,” Wolf recalls. “I asked him if they were old songs that he did re-edits of – I couldn’t believe they were new songs and that he played all the instruments.” I had that same feeling, it’s shocking! Album hits this Fall so keep your ears open.

For their May editorial Who What Wear did a flashback to to the OG Beverly Hills 90210 style. Everyone has been referencing the ’90’s grunge style but these girls bring you ’90s nerdy, sexy, and casual chic. The grunge was definitely not completely disregarded here but they did a great job creating the vibe. Here is what they had to say:
“When you hear the words “nineties fashion,” most people immediately envision something sloppy, involving flannel, and heavy on slacker attitude. While it’s true that these Alice-in-Chains-influenced styles were certainly emblematic of the time, grunge wasn’t the only trend in town˜oh no! The decade was also front-loaded with lots of edgy silhouettes, bright accents, and zany looks, all of which are feeling fresh again. ”

There is Fashion collages and there is Art Collages (there also grade school collages, but this one don’t count) dutch-born Lidy Jacobs is definitely in the Art category – originate from pornographic magazines and sexually loaded print ads. She then carefully selects these highly suggestive contours, which she later hollows out in order to remove the model’s individual traits. The end result is a beautiful and delicate web of highly suggestive silhouettes lacking any sort of personal identity… See more at Parrotta.de
