Generationals is a band that surely has some 1960’s sunshine pop nostalgia lingering in their earwax. This New Orleans duo is made up of Ted Joyner and Grant Widmer. “When They Fight They Fight” is your perfect summertime jam, from their debut album “Con Law”. The Oldies have been a regular choice at a lot of New York and L.A. hotspots so there is surprise that their sound seems so appropriate.

Vampire/S&M style is the first impression I had of new UK based Womenswear label: Afira – The Collection is inspired by the strong, dark, archetypal woman, glamorous, passionate and heroic, from both past and present. Vamps, femme fatales and dominant women tell the stories. Leather, straps and some sheer are the main fabrics for their first collection, apparently they dont have any stockists yet, as they have barely launched…Stay tuned.
Next Shape black & white editorial shot by Mert & Marcus featuring model Iris Strubegger for Vogue Italia’s March 09. Shapes and futuristic goodness, me likey !
I love this editorial from Vogue Nippon’s July issue featuring Raquel Zimmermann as a Mod Goddess. The styling is absolute throw back to the way my mother was dressing from ‘78 till about ‘82, from the black and white architectural dresses to the earpieces that few people could pull off. Its nice to see that item making its way back into an editorial, I’m pretty certain after the success of this editorial there will be a lot of sourcing for earpieces for shoots, its a good thing I have a small section in my jewelry box with the original one’s from my moms hay day. I am very curious about the designer behind the one featured here because they are definitely different then my collection or any I have seen before but would not be shocked at all if it was indeed a vintage piece. I will do some research and find out. For now just enjoy these luscious images.

Yesterday we introduced the upcoming Emporio Armani’s new campaign with Victoria Beckham, which received a great response. The same photographers, Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, shot the upcoming Miu Miu ad featuring Katie Holmes. I love the mood, lighting and colors of the photograph but something about Katie in this picture just doesn’t work. I cant say if it’s the entire pose or just that exposed leg, but her body language does not convey the mood of the photo for me.
After David who posed for the brand last year its now Mert & Marcus who shot Victoria Beckham for Emporio Armani underwear. The black and white photos were shot in LA. Now there is no doubt these photos are stunning and well taken and there is also no doubt that Armani’s sales figures will jump through the roof. However we are left wondering whether she either deserves or needs the $17.5 MILLION she has received for the modeling deal. Giorgio Armani said “I chose Victoria Beckham to launch our new global Emporio Armani Women’s Underwear campaign because she is a stylish and intriguing woman. Great underwear is alluring and provocative, and so I wanted to work with someone who would make a real impression.” Victoria said: ‘To be given this opportunity to work with Armani is thrilling. I have so much respect for him.‘ We bet she’s thrilled for $17.5 Million for a few days work we’re sure anyone would be.

Just about to hit stores are the two collaborations that Melissa did with Hometown designer, Alexandre Herchcovitch, and Vivennne Westwood. I have always been kind of on the line with Melissa shoes. I like the concept but I’m very particular about shoes and have never considered buying a pair till now.
So its finally summertime and all I can think is beach. Monday comes and I start to plan what will be the best day to ditch work and hit PCH. Weekends just arent enough! Times really havent changed too much, I mean no matter how old you are and how important your attendance is, there are certain distractions that just cant be helped. Continue Reading
Kirsten Dunst seems to be the perfect choice for Miu Miu spring/summer 2008 ad campaign. Prada’s little sister’s spring 2008 collection has a subtle perverse feeling, inspired being by French maids, ballerinas and Commedia dell’arte characters.
Scandalously short hems, puffed mini skirts, kinky little-girl bloomers and harlequins decorated brocades describe best Miu Miu’s spring 2008 offer. The campaign’s images shot by photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott show Kirsten in a cabaret setting captivating us with her theatrical poses.
