Is Anna Wintour retiring?

Rumour has it that Anna Wintour is concidering retirement! According to the New York Post her contract is about to expire and “she’s so tired out and she feels she’s done it all and had enough”, says a source to the Post. Not only has she run Vogue US for twenty years, but she additionally oversees Teen VogueFashion Rocks and Men’s Vogue, which just recently got cut down to only two issues a year due to budget cuts at Condé Nast. This might be why the rumours of Anna Wintour leaving is flourishing on the internet or maybe there’s more to it?

I honestly don’t know what to believe. I certainly don’t believe that she’s is the kind of woman to leave her masterpiece without it being perfectly done. I think she’s the type who’d want to leave on top of her career. I just can’t picture Fashion Week without Anna Wintour in front row with her characteristic sunglasses places on her nose. It all seems too strange to me, but then again, change isn’t necessarily a bad thing, is it? However, if it’s true, it would definitely cause a commotion within the world of fashion and there will be some major questions to be answered. Who would replace her? What would she do without Vogue? And, will anyone ever exceed the expectations there is to being the next Anna Wintour?

“Matthew has such a good eye and a way for working with prints that he mixes up in a new way. When he combines these things, you get a very contemporary London look. It’s for people who want to look special, but his clothes can also be worn in a nonchalant way – you can really play around with them. He is fantastic with piling on colour – it’s a very stylish collaboration for H&M, and very much in line with the way we’re thinking about fashion for spring/summer,” says Margareta van den Bosch, Creative advisor at H&M.
The collection, which can’t be anything but fabulous, is set to hit selected H&M stores from April 23, 2009.

Art meets Fashion and everybody loves Chanel!

Chanel Mobile Art installation

Chanel Mobile Art installation

In 1955 Madame Coco Chanel launched the iconic, quilted ‘it’ bag 2.55. Now, fifty-three years later, Chanel have decided to make the bag the center of attention once again, namely the center of a traveling exhibition entitled Chanel Mobile Art. Twenty international contemporary artists have reinterpreted the classic Chanel hand bag and designed everything from a gold quilted guitar-shaped shoulder bag to a giant 2.55 lying thrown on the floor. The exhibition opened in Hong Kong in a futuristic, curved glass pavillion designed by Zaha Hadid, which was the first stop of a two-year world tour, where the artists have smoothened the fine lines between fashion design and art. “We don’t need art, but we cannot live without it,” said Karl Lagerfeld at the opening of Chanel’s Mobile Art pavilion in New York City’s Central Park. The exhibition will move on to cities like London, Moscow and Paris.

Anything but Ordinary

Fashionable Habits

Fashionable Habits

Hi everyone! I’m the new guest blogger at Cyana TrendLand. I’ve had my own fashion blog for almost a year now and I love it. I eat, sleep and breathe fashion, so that’s practically what I’ll be blogging about. I’m a chain smoker, compulsive shopper and I love everything the fashion industry has to offer and I love everything fashionable. There’s not much in this world which I hate, but the mainstream, that I can’t handle. I try to be anything but ordinary. I guess that’s what we all fear isn’t it, to be ordinary?
We can interpret fashion, what we see on the catwalk and in the fashion magazines and make it our own.
Fashion isn’t just what you get served every six months by today’s leading designer houses or what the fashion magazines glorifies. There’s the models, the It girls, the style icons, the celebrities, fashion bloggers and street style blogs who all contribute to shaping, inspiring and defining the fashion industry.

Would you be smoking Marlboro Light if it wasn’t for Carrie Bradshaw? Would you be drinking cappuccinos of paper cups if it wasn’t for Mary-Kate Olsen? Would you be carrying around your newly bought fashion magazine, even though you have a bag to put it in, if it wasn’t for Carine Roitfeld? The truth is that Manolo would’nt necessarily have been such a “common” term as it is today if it wasn’t for the four girls in Sex and the City. They made Manolo Blanik a known and fashionable name.
I certainly won’t smoke any other cigarette but Marlboro Light and if I get the opportunity I would choose Starbucks just so that I could feel a little more fashionable. You would think that a luxurious hand bag and a pair of high heels would do just the trick? Today, the accessories are just as important. Trend objects such as these, often created by celebrities, come and go, but they’ll make us feel some what more fashionable at the time and a few steps closer to the Manolo Blaniks.
I guess we’re all a bit ordinary?
