In collaboration with the H&M design team, UXUS was invited to create the launch for the H&M Home Collection at their headquarters in Stockholm. The approach was to create a “gallery” of fun fashion home products which customers are encouraged to touch and explore.
H&M Home is a gallery/showroom using highly emotional product presentations, which verge on art, to encourage customers to engage with the brand.
The first of a proposed international chain for the Italian fashion house famed for it’s colorful fabrics and knitwear, open the Missoni Hotel in Edinburgh, UK. The six-story structure at The Royal Mile and George IV Bridge is square in the middle of some of the most breathtaking Old Town architecture.

The Cooper Union for Advancement of Science and Art has recently opened the doors of their new academic building. To be occupied primarily by the Albert Nerken School of Engineering, one of the nation’s most selective institutes of education, they have created a building that maximizes its utility as both a space for study and research, through the use of new mechanical, structural and environmental technologies in their laboratories.
As a Parisian, I can tell you that L’Eclaireur is THE best concept store in the French Capital – If you told me “and what about Colette?” I would tell you, Colette’s got the hype, L’Eclaireur got the class! Nothing comes close to them in Paris. Owned by French fashion connoisseur Armand Hadida and his wife Martine (owners as well of Parisian tradeshow Tranoi ). They already have 5 stores in Paris and 1 in Tokyo – This one is their 6th one, and they went pretty far into the concept, designed by Belgian Designer Arne Quinze. They decided to create a space different than any other boutiques, they wanted to prove that for selling fashion, it is not obligatory to show it, and this is why they decided to hide part of the clothes, leaving room for the percievers imagination.
Here is the review about the opening of their 6th store in 40 rue de Sévigné 75003 Paris.
With a mix of Art, luxury brands and technology like the Microsoft Table Touch or the 147 screens on the walls made of wood, cartons, polystyrene and aluminum, as well as the surprise walls that rise and fall, to accede the garments, the new l’Eclaireur store will definitely be THE new shopping destination spot in Paris…Can’t wait to see it !
Designed by Paris based KOZ Architects, the 1,600 square-meter facility is unexpected and bold in its riotous use of colors both inside and out. I would have loved as a kid having such a cool and colorful Sport Center!
It doesn’t take much imagination to understand that toys and childhood play were the guiding inspirations for the recently completed children’s sports and recreation center in Saint-Cloud, a wealthy community located in the metropolitan area of Paris, about six miles from the city center.
Founded in 2007 by Jonathan King, after working in advertising as a location booker, is The Shoot Factory, a full-service location agency, representing UK and international properties, studios and venues for TV, film, photo shoots, product launches and events. Most of The Shoot Factory’s locations are occupied homes and businesses, which are rented on a day rate basis to the the agencies clients, which include The Times,
Vogue, Dazed & Confused, Elle, Gucci, Gap, Louis Vuitton, Roche Bobois, Dwell, L’Oreal commercials, Lexus, Heinz, Borbonese, and Secret Diaries of a Call Girl to name a few.
Starting by renting his own home as a set “has proven to be the key to success”, said King, “I understand what both parties are looking for, what they dislike and how to advise on suitable work for the home owner and the right location for the client.”
If you are looking for a great location for your next production or just to be inspired for the interior of your new home, The Shoot Factory is a must see destination. I have been browsing through this site for the last 2 years and have yet to stop checking in for inspiration. Visit the site to peruse through all the different rentals at The Shoot Factory.
Colors and geometric shapes are the main theme of this amazingly cool cafeteria designed by Tobias Rehberger in collaboration with Finnish furniture Artek – He actually won the Golden Lion as best artist at the 53rd International Art Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia, for the “Cafeteria of the Palazzo delle Exposizioni della Biennale ” – More Info : www.artek.fi/projects/fairs/57
An air raid bunker in Berlin was constructed in reinforced concrete in 1942 during the second world war, for the German railway company. In 2003 Christain Boros bought the bunker and commissioned Realarchitektur to design a place for him and his family to live in and house his collection of contemporary art. The existing spaces seemed appropriate to be used by the art and artists represented in the collection. On each of the five floors a route connects the eight major rooms and the surrounding sub spaces. The strict symmetry and uniformity of all spaces created a general feeling of disorientation. The building was separated from its urban context by post war additions such as walls, loading bays, an elevator tower and outhouses. So austere and cold, but incredible. Since 2008 it has been opened for the public to view (by appointment only) his collection of artworks, including the likes of Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin and Sarah Lucas. Much more information about the conversion and extension here.
Emmanuelle Moureaux recently revealed his new collection in Tokyo of designs for offices and showrooms. Taking inspiration from a kaleidoscope, Moureaux used over 1150 colors to create stunning office spaces. If you look closely at the pictures you can see it isn’t just one or two glass windows. There are multiple layers of glass panels that are carefully layered to give that kaleidoscope effect. The yellow one is my favorite.
Compact living, a concept that is most often associated with Japanese lifestyles and design, never fails to intrigue us Westerners. The Dome House is a concept for a new kind of home developed by the Japanese which has been approved by Japanese Ministry of Land and Transport. The materials used to build these home and the actual infrastructure are said to be beneficial in the prevention of aging and the recuperation of your health, energy-saving, earthquake resistance, and environmentally friendly.
I would love to see these in expensive structures, starting at $30,000 to build, start to pop on land waiting to be developed around cities like Los Angeles, where temporary nightlife villages can be housed. Each Dome with its own concept. AMAZING!
You know we love creative offices, and when we stumble over some, we have to show it to you – Like this Dinahosting Offices designed by O Anti?doto. The 8,600 square feet space that used to be a gym facility now contains offices, social space for employees, a board room, auditorium, cafeteria and exhibition hall spread over two floors. Designed for Spanish internet company Dinahosting, with robust, spacious, and easy-maintenance materials as Industrial containers (our favorite).
Continuing with the pop-up store phenomenon that we seem to be in the midst of,Louis Vuitton has teamed up with Japanese retail brand Seibu (info), in opening a temporary outlet in Seibu’s gigantic Ikebukuro department store in Tokyo – The Louis Vuitton/ Underground/ goes with a raw and industrial look and is completely different in terms of interior than other Vuitton spaces. LOUIS VUITTON underground is a concept store, and will only be running for a limited period of time…

Check out this amazing tree house restaurant in Japan.
It features a realistic imitation of a Banyan Tree. Towering above the surrounding town, it is a spectacle to see.

According to their website, the Naha Harbor Diner claims to offer “farm-fresh vegetables, juicy chickens and pork” and “native salts.” Their menu boasts delicious sounding meals such as: Swimming Crab Tomato Pasta, Carpacio of beef with salad of green papaya, and Smoked Duck Breast with fruit.
