In a conversation with a friend last night about the past week of art overload in New York, we spoke about the anticipation of being to able to buy art, and filling our space with things that profoundly touch our inner mechanics in ways we don’t necessarily want to express with words. Of all the things we had seen over the week, we stopped to discuss to work of Michael Zelehoski, an artist she had met who spoke a language in his work, that she connected to so deeply it made her think, where can I get 10,000$ right now. There was no future tense in that thought, it had to be now!
I really like Alec Strang’s Fashion Illustrations. They remind me a bit of Laura Laine’s work but with a more artsy/darker style. Recent graduate from The London College of Communication, Strang has just collaborated with fashion ‘Knitwear’ designer Derek Lawlor for his AW 2010 showcase at London Fashion Week. Be sure to check his Showreel Video below.
Colors are Malene Landgreen’s vocabulary, and when it comes to color blocking we totally understand what she means! Landgreen has moved far beyond the conventional frames of painting in Denmark with the wall exhibition in Kunsthal Charlottenborg. It’s through her relations to volume and colors that she ‘speaks out’.
Love it! We have to hire her for the painting of Trendland future office!
Elizabeth Carruther’s is a talented Sydney-based graphic designer who goes by the name of No-ellk. I found this series of “Facet Boards”, or mood boards, she created for The Last Magazine and was drawn to all the shapes within shapes. The beautiful geometric inspirations boards are bursting with concepts and colors drawn from eclectic sources which allow each viewer to create their own narrative.
