“If Sydney were personified, she’d be bronzed, brazen, and almost certainly wearing a Zimmermann bikini, so synonymous has the sunny Australian label become with Australian style.” - Sydney Morning Herald. It has been more than 17 years since sisters Nicky and Simone founded the Zimmermann aesthetic. Made up of feminine prints, structure, and an evident nostalgia the Cruise Collection 08/09 look book is a great measure of these sisters trend forward perspective.

In an extraordinary collaboration, Louis Vuitton, the ultimate French luxury brand, and Rei Kawakubo of Comme des Garcons, the ultimate fashion rebel, will open a joint Tokyo store in September – an ephemeral three-month space where six one-off bags, designed by Kawakubo in the LV monogram pattern, can be ordered by shoppers. This will take place in the Omotesando Commes Des Shop. Kawakubo has re-designed the entire Comme des Garcons store on Kottodori, Omotesando for the Vuitton project. Carcelle says that LV is investing in the store, and that any financial profits will be divided.

Design duo Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren have admitted they were impressed by Diesel boss Rosso’s handling of Maison Martin Margiela, a similarily concept-led label, which his Only the Brave holding acquired in 2002…

The British Fashion Council today announces that designers Christopher Kane, Erdem, Marios Schwab and Roksanda Ilincic have been chosen to receive British Fashion Council Fashion Forward sponsorship.
The scheme, established two years ago, provides financial support to UK-based designers who are in the early stages of developing their business and have already established a profile at London Fashion Week. The award, partly supported this season by the London Development Agency, consists of a substantial cash prize, to be used towards producing an on-schedule catwalk show at London Fashion Week, and has been previously won by Giles Deacon, Jonathan Saunders, Richard Nicoll, Jens Laugesen and Sinha-Stanic. Cyana Trendland is confident to name Lara Stone Model of the Year for 2008. I have been noticing Lara everywhere that matters for a year now and I love her more and more each time. There is something very nostalgic to me about her look, its sends me back to the 70’s , and then back to the 90’s and at the same time it is so strong today. Her gap and actually quite a bit about her remind me of Vanessa Paradis and her raw and limitless sensibility with the camera of Kate Moss. Continue reading for a brief history on our favorite model Lara Stone.

I love mens fashion. There is a boundary that a designer is faced with in menswear that is not so present in womens wear. No matter how over the top or designed some garments are there will always be the women for it, but menswear is different. Its all about color and fit. Its that sexy, sporty, chic or grungy silhouette that defines the man before you can even get close enough to see his face. Here are my favorite looks from the SS09 Runway Shows.

Adriana Degreas is celebrated today as the “Bain Couture designer” from Brazil and is noted for her use of sophisticated cuts and shapes for swim collections adorned with genuine accessories.
Her style mixes the French technique of moulage which creates a worn or antiquing effect on textiles that recalls a 1970’s energy. Ever since she was a young girl playing with fabrics from her parents’ company she has been inspired by her grandmother’s taste for Emilio Pucci, Andre Courreges, Azzedine Alaia and Pierre Cardin and her collections today reflect this heritage.
