It comes as no surprise after graduating with an MA from Royal Academy of Arts and working as the accessories designer at Lanvin that Holly Fulton is the winner of Young Designer of the Year Awards at the Scottish Fashion Awards, and this is her second season showing with Fashion East following her debut in February 2009. Deeply inspired by art deco and 1960’s pop art her graphic aesthetic morphs into somewhat of a Futurist Robotica, a femme equipped with all the armor she will need to take her mission from day to night. Her philosophy borrows concepts and technique from couture fashion and translates it to ready to wear.
I don’t know if its really comfortable to be restricting in one of these latex contraptions, but visually it looks great. And if I remember well, I think I saw some editorials in the past mixing latex/S&M props with some high fashion outfits…
HighGlossDolls presents a selection of their Fashion shoot for the Faulein Ehrhardt label – Shot by the designer herself Katja Ehrhardt – Take this as inspiration and think props, props !!
Australian wardrobe stylist and former Australian Vogue market editor, Tiana Wallace’s portfolio covers a full range of meticulously executed style. Her work as a a stylist has contributed to magazines including Oyster, Harper’s, Pages, and Grazia. She has traveled to many countries in developing her portfolio and this is major factor in the quality of her work. You can see in these photos I have highlighted that her inspiration comes from many unlike places. To see more of her work visit Viviens Creative Management’s website.
Mattel, the maker of Barbie, has partnered with Christian Louboutin for a multifaceted program under which the shoe designer will serve as a yearlong godfather to Barbie, not just rethinking her fashion wardrobe and physical attributes, but also art directing her in different lifelike situations.
I want every single ones of those Coke Light Bottles !! Eight Italian fashion designers (only women) Donatella Versace, Alberta Ferretti, Anna Molinari for Blumarine, Veronica Etro, Silvia Venturini for Fendi, Consuelo Castiglioni for Marni, Angela Missoni and Rossella Jardini for Moschino, have teamed with Coca Cola for fund raising campaign in support of the victims of the earthquake in Abruzzo, Italy. The Coca-Cola light’s bottle and have sold them at auction during the “Tribute to Fashion” show in Milan.
Smoky eyes and gapped-teeth, there’s nothing more sexy ! Georgia May Jagger is the new face for Hudson Jeans Spring/Summer 2010 Campaign. The 17 year old progeny of Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall said at the end of the Hudson (promo) Video a memorable quote to remind us of why we like her, “My mum is Jerry Hall and my father is Mick Jagger. People say I have great genes.” Great jeans indeed.
Last year we reviewed Series One of the Six Scents Collection and now its time for the launch of Series Two. For the occasion Azuma Makoto has been commissioned by the fancy fragrance line to shoot six Botanical Sculptures that seek to represent the idea (and smell) behind each fragrance.
Each year, the Six Scents Fragrance initiative brings the experience of creativity with a conscience to the world through a collection of six individual scents. Collaborating with 6 different artists/designers, Series Two will feature fragrances by: Phillip Lim, Henry Holland, Damir Doma, Henrik Vibskov, Richard Nicoll, and Toga. Individually numbered with custom packaging, each fragrance will be offered in a limited quantity of 2,000 bottles and a percentage of the net proceeds will go toward Pro-Natura in support of their environmental sustainability programs.
Wow! Paris Fashion Week SS 2010 was jammed packed with goodness, as to be expected from Paris. So many collections, so much detail, and so much range. Paris fashion week managed to combine the strengths of New York, London, and Milan all in one week this round. My favorite collections to narrow it down were Balenciaga, Balmain, Chloe & Celine (i’ll elaborate on the junction with the ~ and percent ~ in a moment), Gareth Pugh, Kenzo, Lanvin, McQueen, and Tim Hamilton. But all the designers and looks featured here were the best of Paris fashion week so open your eyes and enjoy the edit that took days and days to produce. Continue reading below…
TAVIK’s Swimwear Summer 2010 collection pays homage to all things rock n’ roll. Think hair bands, acid wash, and Aquanet, with a healthy dose of classic Americana. Each collection consists of styles inspired by the greats: Poison, Motley Crue, and Guns N’ Roses.
There is something for everyone, whether it be electro-charged neon solids, faded faux denim, or an artfully zigzagged American flag pattern. The implementation of oversize bows, side ties, and zippers keeps each suit fashion-forward and impeccably girly.
The collection is Hot, the Model is Hot, the tattoos are sexy and the Lookbook is great! Girls you are lucky to have such a great collection coming your way for Spring 2010. Australian based Aje designed some sexy sequined mini skirts, cropped leather blazers, studded leather vest, sequined racer-back tops, linen over-sized blazers, all in a beautiful black, white and crushed sand color palette~the Aje Summer 2010 collection is stunning !

As a sudo Art School Alumni I know that art school is where you can scout some of the freshest new talent. This was one of my favorite things to do when I was in school. I always sat next to the best illustrator in my illustration class, the best seamstress in my sewing class, and the best designer in my concepts class, with the idea that sitting in close proximity of them I would be infected by their style and skill. Though I am no longer in school I try to keep close tabs on the art schools.
Here is a sneak peak into a recent Alumni of The Danish Design School MA program, Camilla Lastrina. Lastrina finished her MA this summer and I had a little talk with her to get a better sense of her perspective. i asked her about her inspirations and aspirations and what it took to put together her graduating portfolio.
