I always liked Trompe L’Oeil concepts, and this one from London College of Fashion undergraduate designer Rosalind Keepgives a breath of fresh air from what we are seeing in fashion. The Trompe L’Oeil collection for the Oasis Designer Collab’ consists of a combination of tanks, dresses and sweaters with creatively printed lines on otherwise painfully boring clothing.

Much like watching an indie film at Cannes or Sundance, this picturesque dream-like sequence of images brings you into the moment; their moment. An overwhelming feeling of love met, love chased, and love missed leaves a permanent imprint in one’s mind. Grainy images of still life and characters of anonymity fused with an ambient soundtrack slideshow to tell a story.
Recent graduate of The Danish Design School MA program, Stine Ladefoged has shared with Trendland the process for creating her graduating collection as well as the inspiration and philosophy behind it. “In my final MA project, called ”Narcissism is Calling”, I’ve been inspired by postmodern influences, especially postmodern architecture and the typical postmodern human being, who wants to be in the center of attention,” said the designer.
CyanaTrendLand [via Alaia Izabela] provides the first internet leak of CTRL’s SS10 collection. The lookbook is incredibly large [at around 112 pages, no joke] but the colors, styling, photography, and models keep you hungrily flipping right through to the very end. Abundant are subtle acid wash denims in coral and black, as well as cropped and non-cropped jeans in plain black or white for both women and men.

Recent Harvard Business School graduates Jennifer Hyman and Jennifer Carter Fleiss put their brains to work in favor of their love for fashion and after numerous business plans came up with the strategy for Rent the Runway, a concept that has been compared to Netflix. It is in hard economic times that some of the best ideas are born, finding ways to make the unattainable accessible to large demographics is a brilliant mission The duo has created an online platform making typically unattainable fashion accessible to a much larger demographic. Rent the Runway allows its members to rent designer dresses for up to 4 days with a modest range of $50 – $200, approximately 10% of their retail value. And for an additional $25 you can choose an alternate option to be shipped, in case the fit or style is not right.

It comes as no surprise after graduating with an MA from Royal Academy of Arts and working as the accessories designer at Lanvin that Holly Fulton is the winner of Young Designer of the Year Awards at the Scottish Fashion Awards, and this is her second season showing with Fashion East following her debut in February 2009. Deeply inspired by art deco and 1960’s pop art her graphic aesthetic morphs into somewhat of a Futurist Robotica, a femme equipped with all the armor she will need to take her mission from day to night. Her philosophy borrows concepts and technique from couture fashion and translates it to ready to wear.
I don’t know if its really comfortable to be restricting in one of these latex contraptions, but visually it looks great. And if I remember well, I think I saw some editorials in the past mixing latex/S&M props with some high fashion outfits…
HighGlossDolls presents a selection of their Fashion shoot for the Faulein Ehrhardt label – Shot by the designer herself Katja Ehrhardt – Take this as inspiration and think props, props !!
