It is risky to try to express luxury for an 18-28-year-old, wealthy male audience — and not turn them totally off. Rafael de Cardenas of New York’s Architecture at Large took on this challenge with the rebuilding of Ubiq Philadelphia, the destination of choice for sneakerheads from far and wide.
As sneakers and streetwear do not lend themselves all that well to wine-colored velvet or chandeliers, de Cardenas approached the redesign of the large store with a cold and bold, simplified black-and-white palette. Hard, black-lacquered surfaces, op-inspired patterns, harsh lighting and simplified displays mix with beautiful detailing and white ceilings and floors. - via Cool Hunter
* In 2002 David Ortiz opened Dave’s Quality Meat (DQM), and created what Kyle Demers calls a ‘local destination’ for his crew of biker, skater, and straight up lurking dudes. DQM crew has a strict eye for street style and nothing but the choice cuts make it past the counter. Part neighborhood base camp, part museum-quality diorama and a dash of actual retail establishment, the DQM hangout is one of the areas most pertinent trademark’s for street style.

* Joy Rich is a really cool Store in the high-traffic Melrose (LA) shopping area. They have a really nice selection of rare Japanese brands, like ArtiNero, Nir, Joyrich, Nike Japan edition and feature selected LA based brands such as UNIF, Stampd, and PG (Plain Gravy).
