Designers duo Ben Woodcock and Kat Grace of Aussie label Illionaire, launched in 2006, have really taken a bold turn in the right direction within the last 2 seasons. what started out as a young unisex street brand has developed into quite a full range young designer collection. My trend radar sensors definitely went off after seeing last seasons collection, but it was a bit early to know if that direction would stick. For SS09/10 they have come back with a collection which is equally, if not stronger and very collected. The prints/die techniques they used really helped to tell their story from day to night and earth to space. Young, talented and informed Russh Magazine Market Director and designer Kym Ellery is bringing it with her trend infused FW 09/10 Collection. Cut-outs, metallic’s, lace/transparencies, Balmain shoulders, harem pants and even a bit of grunge, all served on one platter. Its great to see some great RTW fashion come out of Australia, though they always lack a bit in their execution when it comes to fabrication and finishing of a garment, I have a feeling she has it down. I have yet to get my hands on the collection but its looking very good!

“If Sydney were personified, she’d be bronzed, brazen, and almost certainly wearing a
Zimmermann bikini, so synonymous has the sunny Australian label become with Australian style.” – Sydney Morning Herald. It has been more than 17 years since sisters Nicky and Simone founded the
Zimmermann aesthetic. Made up of feminine prints, structure, and an evident nostalgia the
Cruise Collection 08/09 look book is a great measure of these sisters trend forward perspective.
