This weekend I went to the New Museum in New York City for the first time. I am not really sure what took me so long to get there but I think it was a subliminal resistance to prolong my optimism towards to the museum, as a response to the negative feelings I have heard from those around me about it. For the most part it was a major disappointment, but it was the Emory Douglas Exhibition which I saw last that that turned the trip into time well spent.

“New Yorkers don’t care about art, they care about pets. So I’m exhibiting them instead. I wanted to make art that questioned our relationship with animals and the ethics and sustainability of factory farming, but it ended up as chicken nuggets singing. I took all the money I made exploiting an animal in my last show and used it to fund a new show about the exploitation of animals. If its art and you can see it from the street, I guess it could still be considered street art.” Read the full story

What I hate most about driving is that since I’m so focused on the road, alot of the time I’ll miss out on all the cool graffiti on the streets of LA. Melrose Avenue has served as a canvas for many street artists like Banksy and Shepard Fairey. Thanks to LAist for the photos, I hadn’t seen some of them yet!

London was hit by graffiti artist Banksy a few days ago. Most interesting though, is that a reader submitted what looks like a photo of the artist unmasked.
