Sibling: Collection 3 Video Lookbook

sibling ss 2010 video lookbook-1

I’ve been waiting to get my hands on the new Sibling presentation but this went above and beyond all expectation. This video look book for their 3rd collection is a visual bomb, full of historic references through graphic elements and collage. They have created visual environments for each of their new sweaters using amateurishly montaged animal heads instead of the models that were shot. Great concept and execution by these young visionaries! Check out their website for more fresh collages of the new collection here.

London Fashion Week SS 2010 Runway Review

MARK FAST SS 2010

There was something so refreshing about London Fashion Week this round. I felt this feeling of tireless radiance throughout most of the shows. There was color, shape, textile development, and risk that altogether excited me much more than New York. Of course in the midst of this overwhelming dynamic there were bits of undismissable disappointment, like Christopher Kane’s presentation, one of the shows I anticipate most each season. It breaks my heart even verbalizing the thought, but that is the nature of this business, it’s hard to reinvent yourself each season with something more than perfection. On the bright side of the catwalk was Mark Fast’s blossoming knitwear, Mathew Willaimsons intergalactic shields of armour, Peter Pilotti’s impressionistic prints, Paul Smith’s Tribal remix, Burberry Prorsum’s royal chic, Julien McDonald’s and Josh Goot’s balanced graphics, and House of Holland’s pop culture femme fatale. A very inspiring week of fashion! To see the New York Fashion Week Review click here.

Heart of Gold/ Bleeding Heart, 18 ct gold pendant/18ct. gold pendant and enamel

“There comes a day in every woman’s life when she wakes up wanting diamonds,” believes Solange Azagury-Partridge, the designer who woke up to diamonds and jewels earlier than most. Her passion for design, her acute and uncoventional sense of beauty, and her instinctive understanding of the meaning and role of jewelry have lead her, from an early age, to her position today as the leading, trailblazing designer/jeweler of her generation.

In 2001, hand chosen by Tom Ford, Solange was appointed the creative director of Boucheron, where she worked for 3 years bringing a new dimension of wayard sensuality to the traditional Palace Vendome jewelry, before returning to her burgeoning brand in London in 2004. The following year ended with the much anticipated launch of her all-red Solange Azagury-Partridge costume jewelry collection for H&M; its immediate success proved that Solange’s reputation had reached a wider, fashion-forward public, rare for a fine jewelry designer.

Continually challenging cliche’s and conventions, exploring materials and pushing boundaries, visualizing words and feelings, Solange has expanded her parameters of art.

After we introduced the incoming Color-Blocking Trend back in the end of 2007, we started to see a lot of color blocking stories the following year. Pretty much every fashion magzine did at least one color-blocking fashion editorial, and many designers, from high fashion to the commercial masses tuned into the trend and created collection with this concept as an infuence. We saw a lot, some great designs and some herendus! But after the trend has  passed British designer, Josh Goot has delivered a beautiful execution of timeless color-blocking. This is not the first collection that he has used and mastered this concept, but this one is very different from past ones. I am obviously a sucker for monochromatic stories as well as the Mod, black and white contrasts in design so this collection holds a very soft spot in my heart.
