Much like watching an indie film at Cannes or Sundance, this picturesque dream-like sequence of images brings you into the moment; their moment. An overwhelming feeling of love met, love chased, and love missed leaves a permanent imprint in one’s mind. Grainy images of still life and characters of anonymity fused with an ambient soundtrack slideshow to tell a story.
The “W Name” collection and its Hunter meets Fishermen outdoor-inspired is hands down, one of my favorite men collaboration by Junya Watanabe X Comme des Garcons Man F/W 09-10 Collection. In addition, this season they collaborated with Levi’s, Pendleton, Tricker’s and The North Face. See also below the Junya Watanabe solo Spring 010 collection
The quality frame manufacture Super and Barneys Co-Op New York features part two in their collab. The frames are designed with intertwining metallic streaks combined with a Zeiss Gold 24k lens and of course is based on the Super Ciccio Style. The product is limited to 50 pieces and is available only at Barneys CO-OP in New York. I’m really feeling the aesthetic marriage between the original tortoise shell look and wood-grain. Peep part one of the co-op here.
Everyone is talking about the brilliant collab between Opening Ceremony and Pendleton. I mean how could this combination go wrong, one of the best stores in the US and one of the staples of American dress. For their 100th anniversary Pendleton worked with Opening Ceremony to create a full collection, including bags of mouthwatering designs. But the punchline here is not the collab, as you probably all know about it, but rather the fact that it is already in store at the La Cienega shop. Everyone is saying the collection is suppose to hit in August, but my little secret can set you ahead of the herd. I cant promise the whole collection is there but there are defintly some pieces including the raddest leather and flannel bags.
“REASONS” Exhibition
In conjunction with the opening of a new Muji Flagship store in Hong Kong in Nov/Dec 08, Muji & Milk invited 15 different European designers, to contribute with their interpretation of the Muji expression for the exhibition “Reasons”.
MUJI x AIAIAI
The AIAIAI contribution was a special edition version of the “Y-Com” earphones. In the spirit of, and focusing on the simplicity of the MUJI design, AIAIAI chose to stripe down the usual colorfulness to a basic white model, however with a added and understated mix of AIAIAI in the spectrum of colors on the plugs.
Swiss foodie blogger, Sooishi, collaborated for the Nike Switzerland Air event with +41. She set out some very precise lil’ Nike-inspired snacks. Mega-creativity and execution on this girl’s part, I can’t imagine piping those petit cheese doodles into perfect swooshes.
P.S. Its amazing how much French your mind digs up when reading her blog, perhaps it’s the beautiful pics as seen on Flickr.
As a kid, I always had a hard time describing where I lived to friends. Our cul-de-sac didn’t have much of a recognizable landmark. The following structure designed by the Japanese duo Torafu has no problem with the recognition factor. This unique one story structure located in Yokohama, Japan resembles that of a chip off the Fortress of Solitude. The concrete structure’s interior bears the look of a gallery with flat white walls throughout the house. The roof lighting system pulls the airy tall ceilings and flat white walls together and fills the cabin with calming natural light.
Marcio Kogan, a 56 year old Brazilian architect strikes once again, designing a very compelling landmark in Brazil. As you can follow with the images below, he has a very good aesthetic eye for composition, materials and proportion.
The two Copenhagen based designers infused new ideas to the Adidas SS’ 08 line. With over 110 looks, there was something for everyone. Strong colors, delicate colors, military-inspired, hip-hop inspired, preppy, rock-star,cutting-edge – you want it, they gave it.
