I am absolutely addicted to Costume Dept.’s obscenely loud leggings and now the daring Lycra™ dealers are expanding to include a full line for F/W09!!!
The predominantly black color pallet might be a startling contrast to their Lisa-Frank-beginning but the smart and versatile noir pieces are the kind of wardrobe ammo that just keeps giving.
I spoke with Owner Shawn Kaleka about Costume Dept. and the new foray into a full-fledged collection.
The smokey-eyed Beau Brummel explains that the fabulous fit can only be attributed to fashion designer ingenue, Shaun Sampson who works under the guidance of greats like Jeremy Scott while completing his study at St. Martin in London.
To know Sampson’s innate talent for draping a woman (or man) is as easy as slipping into a pair of his Ziggy Stardust creations. Uh yeah, i haven’t taken mine off since scoring the gems at a trunk show.
Back to the new line at hand, super-long fringe, androgynous puns and Islamic cultural cues combine in a goth kaleidoscope that’s anything but depressing. The insightful design choices will woo the most daring of boys and girls.

Magnun Larsson, an architecture student from London has proposed an idea to transform the Sahara Desert by creating a 6,000 km wall of sandstone. His proposal was awarded the top prize at the Holcim Foundation’s Awards for Sustainable Construction. The purpose wall would not only create an oasis by providing to create an oasis by providing shelter, water, and vegetation within the harsh Sahara Desert, but it would also stop the Sahara Desert from expanding.

Amazingly, the limestone needed for the 6,000 km wall would be created entirely by utilizing bacillus pasteurii, which is a bacteria that when combined with regular sand turns into hard limestone.

In a time where being “sustainable” is the new fad, it’s nice to see some truly unique and amazing ideas.

The quality frame manufacture Super and Barneys Co-Op New York features part two in their collab. The frames are designed with intertwining metallic streaks combined with a Zeiss Gold 24k lens and of course is based on the Super Ciccio Style. The product is limited to 50 pieces and is available only at Barneys CO-OP in New York. I’m really feeling the aesthetic marriage between the original tortoise shell look and wood-grain. Peep part one of the co-op here.

It is great to come up on a site every once in a awhile that strives to execute one simple goal. In a time when sites are swamped with all kinds of info and rarely organized with a sense of hierarchy to the point that you ill just sit there staring at your screen and not knowing what I am suppose to do, finding “Just Watch the Sky” was a real breathe of fresh air. This site brings together music and typography, what a brilliant combination! There is one simple page from which you have two options, scroll to next song and play song. Each time you change songs the type and colors change, using a lyric from that song.

Kanye’s collab with the Louis Vuitton Spring 09 line called “Kanye LV” stepped out in Paris on Thursday. The monochromatic beauties are just the kind of low-pro steeze expected from the K; of course he had to throw the little Louis flowers at the sole. Not sure what’s going on in the back with the oversized tabs? A take on a floppy hiking boot? – -LalaBlahBlah
