I always liked Trompe L’Oeil concepts, and this one from London College of Fashion undergraduate designer Rosalind Keep gives a breath of fresh air from what we are seeing in fashion. The Trompe L’Oeil collection for the Oasis Designer Collab’ consists of a combination of tanks, dresses and sweaters with creatively printed lines on otherwise painfully boring clothing.
The collection is Hot, the Model is Hot, the tattoos are sexy and the Lookbook is great! Girls you are lucky to have such a great collection coming your way for Spring 2010. Australian based Aje designed some sexy sequined mini skirts, cropped leather blazers, studded leather vest, sequined racer-back tops, linen over-sized blazers, all in a beautiful black, white and crushed sand color palette~the Aje Summer 2010 collection is stunning !

I was introduced to this Luxirare recently and have had a great time exploring the range of creativity present on the beautifully curated site. I can not really imagine a marriage of two more fitting things than fashion and food and to see them served up in this way brings light to my world. Featured here is an outfit created by the faceless gal behind Luxirare. She created this mesh two-piece ensemble to compliment the Margiela jacket, shown here as well, as a result of having nothing suiting to wear it with. Not a bad spurt of creativity if you ask me. I have only highlighted one of her garments but you should not miss Luxirare’s Michael Jackson Memoribilia as well as other pieces you can see on the site.
As for the Gastronomic goodness I have highlighted a range of Luxirare’s edible goods to give you a better idea of the entire aesthetic.
Austrian designer Ali Zedtwitz has designer an autumn/winter collection for Weekday. The collection, which features 12 specially designed pieces, will hit stores this fall. Zedtwitz collection is primarily black with touches of cobalt blue and shades of pale sephia. Zedtwitz recently graduated from University of Applied Arts in Vienna. House of Holland T-shirt design
London based illustrator and stylist Sophie Stephens has a humorous and unique take on today’s fashion and celebrities and no one is spared. Her t-shirts for House of Holland feature illustrations of Brit darling Alexa Chung complete with pumpkin, the witch hat and ivy, Terry Richardson covering himself with a prickly cactus, and Luella, looking rather provocative with arms up and bare chest. Even her final year guerilla art campaign project, entitled ‘Style makes me Sick’ pushed the boundaries. Stephens infiltrated Topshop changing rooms everyday with illustration saying “No More Heroes”, challenging what we think is fashionable and making us rethink how we put celebrities on pedestals. She is a force to be reckoned with! Stephens has done work for various magazines including Love, Fact and Know Magazine, and collaborated with Julian and Noel from The Mighty Boosh to make flyer. An exhibition was organized last year at Milan’s Palazzo Reale, that delved inside the world of the of the late Italian designer Mila Schön through rare images and creations. The exhibition was a success that the Maison developed a book, entitled M is for Mila, that celebrates in style the 50th anniversary of the fashion house.
Everyone reviews fashion for our generation, or sometimes for toddlers, but what about the older generations? What about our Grand Ma’ we love ?! That’s why 24-year- old French designer Fanny Karst created the Old Ladies Rebellion proving that anyone can be elegant and Rock n’ Roll at any age. All the dresses are made to order, they are printed, fitted and finished by hand ! She has had a lot of buzz in Europe, especially London and Paris. So why not soon to the US!? I think its such a interesting and cute concept ! I love it !
Picked up this insane lookbook last year at Creatures of Comfort [and by insane that refers to the cover page photography, styling, and clothing alike]. With collections as ingenious as this, how could anyone ever be unimpressed with the German-born Bernhard Willhelm? He brings us dresses, coats, sweaters, and skirts with extreme volume and layering that manage to flatter with the addition of lines having obviously been lovingly placed with a woman’s body in mind. Bernhard Willhelm’s name is synonymous with the words quirky, adventurous, vibrant, and playful but what makes him so brilliant in his somewhat off-the-wall design aesthetic is the fact that every piece is still very much chic and wearable. It comes as no surprise that this now-Paris-local received the ANDAM Grand Prize as the most promising talent of the new creative scene.
A beautiful and interesting presentation from Danish womenwear label Stine Goya SS10 Collection – Presented during Copenhagen Fashion Week. The Central Saint Martins grad offered a delightful bright color palette with great gradient patterns, her jumpers and jackets are to die for! I see some inspiration from Dries Van Noten and Chloe, but Stine mixed it well with her own touch and presented a outstanding collection !

Another ‘hard to wear in the street, but great for photoshoots’ UK based Knitwear designer Timothy James Andrews. Aztec geometric shapes and colorful patterns with Tetris in mind and a bit of 60s sci-fi – Timothy’s collection looks great but you wont be able to wear it in the street before 2020 without looking like a freak (except of course the more subtle pieces) or if you are a ‘Trendy Londoner Raver‘ (ei Cary of Casette Playa ). Fashion is Art my friends – and this is a perfect example of that expression!

Amy Thompson is certainly a young designer to watch ! She just graduated with an MA in Fashion Bodywear at DeMontfort University, UK. She doesn’t have any website or portfolio online, she just contacted Fashion156 to show them her collection! And its beautiful ! Amy uses translucent polypropylene armor pieces to manipulate and exaggerate the shape of the body.An interesting new way of seeing the future of fashion…
Scottish designer, Holly Fulton, graduated 10 years ago from Edinburgh College of Art with a BA in Fashion and after graduating in 2007 with her MA at the Royal College of Art in London, is now showing her latest “art deco style” collection ! Shown as part of Fashion East, she has collaborated with CRYSTALLIZED Swarovski Elements to help add the extra sparkle to her stand out collection. Her style reminds me a lot of Mary Katrantzou. See her outstanding first runway collection video (below)! She’s definitely a designer to watch!
