As the American Summer wanes, Fall looks have undoubtedly begun to circulate the minds and mouths of the fashion world. Women having the majority of say in purchasing decisions is an undeniable fact, reflected clearly through the following shoot. Supermodels taking hold of this corporate city, embracing well-tailored fitted pieces matched with looser yet structured forms. A black ensemble is set adjacent to a full blown leopard print guise [which one would assume to clash but in fact manages to blend ever so tastefully]. A plain oversized neutral coat is accented with just a tinge of metallic peeking out from beneath and those unexpected silk bunny ears Marc Jacobs got everyone talking about. And, of course, jeweled neck pieces almost overwhelming in size couldn’t hurt either. This particular Harper’s Bazaar editorial shot by Akrans emphasizes precisely what to watch out for within the coming months. See full spread on PaperMode.

I am completely digging these detail shots from the Givenchy Fall 09 Couture runway. Im used to squinting at runway photos in attempts of getting a better reading of the garment and end up still imagining half the details. It is not often enough we get to see detail shots from the runways. Maybe this is because its not every runway or even every season that there is something nearly as striking as this Givenchy Collection but there is no doubt the concept and accessories of the Fall 09 Givenchy Couture Collection called for this kind of attention. For Fall Ricardo Tisci was inspired by two contrasting worlds, that of David Bowie and the eccentric Moroccan culture, which fused together in a very powerful way on the runway. The bold hardware rocks my world! There is also a great interview of Ricardo Tisci by Harriet Mays Powell for NY Magazine to watch below.

For September’s cover, shot by Will Davidson, Dazed fashion members Karen Langley and Katie Shillingford worked together as a styling duo to captured their favourite new faces wearing some of the strongest collections of the season including Burberry Prorsum, D&G, Givenchy, Louis Vuitton and Miu Miu.
“We wanted to work together so that it was a mixture of our styles, we’ve always appreciated each others aesthetic so we thought it would be quite a fun idea to combine the two,” Katie
“Our September theme was excess. I think working together, we felt more confident to pull off slightly more outlandish styling ideas – like mono-brows. I’m sure some people will love them and some people will hate them. …we love them!!” Karen

After reviewing all the mens SS09 fashion shows, there was one reoccurring trend in just about every collection and that was, head to toe monochrome. It was definitely easier to except in the white and grey hues than Gucci and Niel Barrets neon suits (not pictured here), but i do feel that Givenchy (
look 2 and 4) pulled it off in great taste.
