Georges Antonis‘ work dips into a world where glamour and intrigue meld and the result is bold, beautiful and cinematic. Antoni is an Australian fashion photographer (Queensland bred) whose star is rising rapidly in the global market. His first forays into the Sydney, London and New York fashion industries have been greeted with resounding success. His natural talent, formidable skills in lighting and composition and easy going nature, have resulted in mass interest from leading international brands and magazines, such as Australian Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, Oyster, Cream and WestEast.
After his covers for French Elle with the ‘no make-up’ shoot, its Peter Lindbergh again who shot Claudia Schiffer, Helena Christensen, Cindy Crawford and more, in ‘SuperModels SuperNaturals’ for the issue of Harper’s Bazaar September 2009. We told you a little while ago that the trend in retouching was to get as natural as possible, so it looks that the trend is now expanding to the photoshoot itself – and it looks great ! It’s also true that its the group of people in the world who need the least retouching to begin with. Lindbergh told the Times in May, “Heartless retouching should not be the chosen tool to represent women in the beginning of this century.” No retouching, no retouching; these images still went into the hands of Pascal Dangin and he at least cleaned them up and did some color correcting, that’s for sure! As the American Summer wanes, Fall looks have undoubtedly begun to circulate the minds and mouths of the fashion world. Women having the majority of say in purchasing decisions is an undeniable fact, reflected clearly through the following shoot. Supermodels taking hold of this corporate city, embracing well-tailored fitted pieces matched with looser yet structured forms. A black ensemble is set adjacent to a full blown leopard print guise [which one would assume to clash but in fact manages to blend ever so tastefully]. A plain oversized neutral coat is accented with just a tinge of metallic peeking out from beneath and those unexpected silk bunny ears Marc Jacobs got everyone talking about. And, of course, jeweled neck pieces almost overwhelming in size couldn’t hurt either. This particular Harper’s Bazaar editorial shot by Akrans emphasizes precisely what to watch out for within the coming months. See full spread on PaperMode.
