When technology collaborates with Fashion it results in this: Issey Miyake x Dyson collaboration- The two have come up with the DC16 limited edition (a.k.a “The Wind”), a super stylish handheld vacuum with twice the power of other handheld’s. Issey Miyake designed the Dc16 vacuum and Dyson designed the Dc16 jacket ( the 2007 Paris Runway ). What a beauty! Would love to see more collab’ of this kind, like a Martin Margiela Blackberry for example…
I have always been a super fan of all the Tsumori Chisato campaigns. The color and ethnicity are always captured and magnified in their vibrant campaigns of which Surface to Air Paris has been the guiding creative light since 2005. Surface to Air is the iconic boutique creative collective in my eyes. They touch base on all things fashion, graphics, photography, design, music, and films while continuously building the team and spectrum. Surface to Air is a hyper product of today’s creative world; interested in everything that makes the eye spark and experimenting with all mediums to execute the highest of visual sensations. They are smaller but powerful, just have a look at their client portfolio which includes Loveless, Louis Vuitton, Cacharel, and Issey Miyake.
Introducing Michail Gkinis, Greek born designer currently living and designing in Tokyo. He interned under Issey Miyake, the influence of Issey’s work can be seen in Gkinis Brand Aptform.
CONCEPT : SPIRIT
Michail Gkinis is making meaningful clothes always progressing the Raison d’Etre into the wearers mind. The message he portrays is ‘Form Follows Function’ by the Bauhaus art movement. His admiration to implement it not only in clothing but as a purpose of life. Having this in mind he is applying the amalgamations of industrial/ nature/ human values/ the space within as the fundamental inspirational engine in order to express his awareness about the modern social environment and in result is using clothing as a medium to communicate with the rest of the humanity.
