Bat for Lashes: Use Somebody

Bat for Lashes decided to do a cover of Kings of Leon’s song “Use Somebody”. Im a big fan of covers done well. Its a chance to resurrect a song you may have retired, and enjoy it all over again; this time in a whole new way. Bat for lashes brings her signature ethereal and eerie, yet always lovely sound to KOL’s song here. An interesting and somewhat unexpected tribute from a girl with typically off-beat influences.

Lykke Li : Knocked Up Rodeo Mash Up

I just saw Kings of Leon play at Madison Square Garden this past weekend. As always, they were great live. But every time I see them play, I observe this fact: the song “Knocked Up” is absolutely epic live. Its an epic song all around. I mean every time he sings the line “people call us renegades, we like livin crazy”, with that sharp guitar noise accompanying it, I get the chills! So no surprise that my favorite girl Lykke Li had similar thoughts. She decided to cover the song, and as would be expected from anything she does, its great. Have a listen.
