Brigitte Bardot and the Original Paparazzi is an exhibition of 75 vintage photographs by some of the most famous paparazzi photographers at James Hyman Gallery in London. Coinciding with the 75th Birthday of Brigitte Bardot on 28th September 2009 and the 50th anniversary of the birth of the paparazzi, the exhibition includes iconic images as well as rare works that have never been exhibited or published. It traces the development of a whole new aesthetic and genre of photography. Fueled by an international obsession with celebrity, these rare photographs illustrate the creation of a more candid, intimate and revealing depiction of youth that swiftly replaced the more controlled and posed studio imagery of the publicity machines of the film studios. It shows how Bardot and the paparazzi created a whole new image of womanhood, female sexuality and youth fashion. View all the artworks with details here.

1948 is Nike’s creative playground-retail store neatly tucked away in the old brick railway arches between Shoreditch High Street and Curtain Road in East London. In addition to displaying and selling shoes, 1948 offers an entire art floor for events, installations and a social meeting point.
This installation in 1948 was created by Finland-born illustrator/artist/designer Kustaa Saksi who creates retro-futuristic kaleidoscopic imagery, daunting and irresistible. This installation is all about the historical fun journey of the Nike running shoe. Saksi is a Finnsh illustrator and designer living and working in Amsterdam, via Paris for four years. Saksi sprawling scene creation has a pop-art, retro feel familiar to his other works, and it fits perfectly with Nike’s history as a brand. Saksi’s Volkswagen van and psychedelic colors illustrate the pre-swoosh era in an earnest and deliberately clunky way.

Part 1 & 2
A huge trend has risen lately in fashion; The Pop-Up Store. We have been following some of the freshest brands and Collectives popping-up in NY, LA, and London. what a better thing to do when you are visitng a place but throw together a store/ambiance where you can invite and host the people interested in your work. Paper Magazine hasnow taken it to another level. One hour ago I was at the launching of the 24 hour department store installation by Paper Magazine. what a brilliant idea and execution. I have been keeping an eye on their progress all week. They started setting up Monday to be ready by Tonight. i wanted to get there at exactly 6pm to see what it would be like outside, and as I predicted the line was growing fast and people were inpatient. I ran in to snap some pics and tell you guys all about it right away. the energy was great and the exhibitors were awesome. i cant wait to go back in the middle of the night to see what they are up to. Inside you will find exhibitors including Screaming Mimi’s, Opening Ceremony, Citizen-Citizen and many more.
Part 3 & 4

London was hit by graffiti artist Banksy a few days ago. Most interesting though, is that a reader submitted what looks like a photo of the artist unmasked.
