Much like watching an indie film at Cannes or Sundance, this picturesque dream-like sequence of images brings you into the moment; their moment. An overwhelming feeling of love met, love chased, and love missed leaves a permanent imprint in one’s mind. Grainy images of still life and characters of anonymity fused with an ambient soundtrack slideshow to tell a story.

Band of Outsiders 2009 Fall/Winter Collection Lookbook was shot by designer Scott Sternberg (who recently tied with Calvin Klein’s Italo Zucchelli as the CFDA’s menswear designer of the year) with a sun drenched iconic Polaroid-aesthetic. Sternberg took indie pin-up boy Jason Schwartzman to Chinatown in LA, and the filmic style of the shoot works perfectly with a collection that was inspired by the young idealists from the 1967 film Le Chinois by Jean-Luc Godard. Sternberg has a knack for pouring big names into the smallish pieces that make up his collection; most notably Kirsten Dunst, Marisa Tomei and Sarah Silverman for his Boy by Band of Outsiders women’s line.

LA based design duo Wildfox Couture may not be groundbreaking wares, but boy are they mischievous and unashamedly fun! Childhood friends Emily Faulstich and Kimberley Gordon are the creative force behind the vintage-inspired women’s brand. Combining great style and unsurpassed quality, Wildfox has quickly gained a cult-like following amongst celebrities and top retailers worldwide. Inspired by Native American artwork and vintage rock & roll t-shirts, the young designers gave birth to a brand that tells a story of their generation and friendship. Today, the girls spend their time visiting vintage shops and working out of their Silverlake-area design studio – where they sew their hearts on their sleeves and spread peace and love through design. Much like their salacious Fall 09 lookbook, Wildfox’s Spring 2010 collection “Young Guns” takes cues from the American Apparel school of advertising and presents a bevy of bright young things pouting, slinking and cavorting in various states of undress.

Following up on a Trend we recently reviewed about the Pattern Mixing, you should see the Suno Fall 2009 Collection. For their second collection Suno is going strong on the colors and African inspired textiles – After producing their samples in NY, they send them to Kenya where the garments are produced in small workshops by artisans. This collection is inspired by a mix of East African and downtown NY women. Girls you are lucky! I would love to see a cool African inspired collection for Men.

The pops of color, the tailoring, the simplistic modern design this is the best collection I have seen in a while.
“Filippa Knutsson is one of the two founders of Filippa K. Having been educated in London, Filippa returned to her native Stockholm in the mid-80’s to work for the successful family-owned fashion company Gul& Blå, initially as a buyer and later as a product manager. After six years Filippa decided to start her own business designing clothes that she felt were simply missing in the marketplace – uncomplicated and yet modern clothes to suit every occasion.

For her third lookbook Nina Nikicio, a Jakarta-born designer, looked for inspiration from some of her favorite bands…Joy Division, The Kills, and Billy Idol. She says she wanted to create a collection that evoked the feeling that a “gritty world is more charming with hints of suppleness” Notice the mixes of suede, satin, lots of black…yet combined with feminine drapery and soft fabrics for a glam, gothic, yet chic look.. I love the purple top and leather skirt.

The Lookbook for Susana Monaco’s Winter collection is simple, chic, yet high detailed. The clothes are lovely as usual but the head wear is what grabs your attention! The black Fleurette hat, the giant blue flower turban, and the top hat are just the beginning, more
