Maison Martin Margiela has always been non-conformist, from their Runways to their collection and ofcourse their sunglasses. We reviewed ‘L’incognito’ a while ago, and now here are their last Visor Sunglasses from the F/W 09-010 Collection – The single lens design is, somehow, comparable to aviators with a Margiela touch! Atypical, playful and unique – you can already buy them over at Colette for $550 !

THE master of concepts, THE fashion artisan and THE hidden identity of Margiela make each collection’s delivery one of the most highly anticipated in the industry. For Autumn/Winter 09 Martin Margiela did a very simple rooftop runway, overlooking the Eiffel Tower. There is absolutely no calling to make a huge runway production with his collections. The garments are so intriquite – from their conception to the weeks and perhaps months of work which go into each piece – that a quick walk by can hardly satisfy a fashion lovers appetite, so there should be nothing to obstruct those few moments of praise. It’s the lingering after taste that makes him such an fashion icon, leaving images in our mind that can sparsely be replaced.

I came across a really interesting article I archived a few years ago, which was as good as new when I re read it. Art and Culture Magazine has great word clusters with topics of articles to keep you reading for days. Here is a piece on the hidden face of fashion, a timeless figure in fashion, the one and only Martin Margiela.


Martin Margiela has been called the J. D. Salinger of the fashion world, and rightly so — he refuses to be photographed and will only be interviewed by fax. He won’t even put his name on his clothes, branding them instead with a blank label.
Margiela is perhaps the most underexposed designer around. But, in another way, he’s continually overexposed, as his collections routinely reveal the designer’s techniques and interests in their very construction. Bearing visible stitches, exposed hems, tailor’s markings, and external shoulder pads, his collections never fail to both shock and delight. Read the full story
