Brazilian artist, Eduardo Recife, is known for his distinct style in mixing type and collage. He has a serious passion for type that dawned on him back in 1997, when he “discovered the grunge type scene on the Internet and it was love at first sight”. His work provokes a kind of deep nostalgia which is universal hence his range of clients from The New York Times to underground subculture brand Upper Playground. He was born to communicate through image, by creating layers of thoughts and expression.  “Its also the best way for me to communicate things I cant find words for… Its a therapy, its a hobby, its a job, its what makes me happy,” says Recife.

The New York Times just delivered some mind blowing photos that photographer Wang Qiang had taken during the 7.9 disaster that took place on May 12, 2008, and left tens of thousands dead in Sichuan. Apparently a very popular backdrop for wedding pictures, 5 couples gathered around the French missionary church near the town of Bailu to be photographed in their most memorable moment.

The century-old church was destroyed in the quake, it all happened in about 10 seconds. The couples managed to escape without injury.
