After his covers for French Elle with the ‘no make-up’ shoot, its Peter Lindbergh again who shot Claudia Schiffer, Helena Christensen, Cindy Crawford and more, in ‘SuperModels SuperNaturals’ for the issue of Harper’s Bazaar September 2009. We told you a little while ago that the trend in retouching was to get as natural as possible, so it looks that the trend is now expanding to the photoshoot itself – and it looks great ! It’s also true that its the group of people in the world who need the least retouching to begin with. Lindbergh told the Times in May, “Heartless retouching should not be the chosen tool to represent women in the beginning of this century.” No retouching, no retouching; these images still went into the hands of Pascal Dangin and he at least cleaned them up and did some color correcting, that’s for sure! The NewYorker wrote a great article about Pascal Dangin owner of the Box Studios. The Box Studio is THE retouching studio, based in NewYork meatpacking district, The Box is working for every single fashion campaign and Magazine – In the world of photo retouching Pascal is a rock star. He is what’s referred to as a “Master Retoucher” – the best there is – and is working with such famed photographers as Annie Leibovitz, Steven Meisel, Patrick Demarchelier and Craig McDean amongst others…
He brings photo retouching to a higher level – almost giving images an artistic quality - and should not be confused with those who hack apart images for certain magazine covers….

Electric Art is a retouching studio based in Sydney. Established in 1993, from a partnership between Managing Director Jonathon Eadie and Creative Director Bruce Bigelow. While the core of their business is Creative Retouching they have expanded to include a 3D department that produces entire campaigns all in the realm of ‘virtual photography’. French retoucher Christophe Huet is a true photoshop Master! His work is fascinating. He is the one who creates the famous advertising for Playstation, but also some for Nike, Motorola, Surfrider Foundation…. I spend an hour on his site looking all of his work, and the Best of all is that he has few working progress slideshows where you can see the process of each image, Like the one above… Its really interesting and inspiring.
