You have Street Photography, Runway photography and Backstage Photography, and when it comes to runway backstage, Sonny Vandevelde is pretty active during Fashion week…

Having access to major runways, he shots and shots pretty much everything to give you the best idea of what happens behind the curtains of fashion shows…. At specifics moments, like before or right after the models do their ‘Fame Walk’
– We like a lot of the work of Sonny and will probably showcase him at every Fashion weeks… www.sonnyphotos.typepad.com

Having only been showing at New York Fashion Week for three years now, little country New Zealand’s big success Karen Walker continues to keep her Northern Hemisphereans on their toes. Past Fall collection themes have included thirties comic book superheroines and Victorian Edwardian meets grunge street. This year Walker presents to us a collection in tune with the current fall of the economy: She’s Cracked. The show was very cleverly ordered starting off with more classic neutral looks with splashes of colored accessories here and there hinting at the trouble to come.

Kanye’s collab with the Louis Vuitton Spring 09 line called “Kanye LV” stepped out in Paris on Thursday. The monochromatic beauties are just the kind of low-pro steeze expected from the K; of course he had to throw the little Louis flowers at the sole. Not sure what’s going on in the back with the oversized tabs? A take on a floppy hiking boot? – -LalaBlahBlah

Its been a year and a half since he dressed the graduating runway for CSM with the freshest looks I have seen in years. Something truly new. Something with an undeniably deep inspiration and someone with an instinct that fashion eyes are keeping close tabs on. With only 3 seasons under his belt, Christopher Kane has made it very clear that he is one of the leading designers of our generation, at only 24 years old. Introducing himself with his deliciously colored 90’s inspired bondage dresses, finished with an impeccable attention to detail for Spring 07, he had me in awe. Where would he go next, how would he translate this aesthetic into the next season, and there came Fall 2007, another shocker! Not what I expected but so sexy and exciting still.
The combinations of fabrics included leather, velvet, metallic details and over-sized gemstones with a Victorian inspiration; still a feeling of that 90’s nostalgia. It was flirty, but serious and sophisticated. And now here we are for Spring 08 with yet another beautifully calculated collection and yet another surprise. Using snake skin printed chiffon frou frou juxtaposed with tattered denims he was able to continuously portray this super sexy, feminine but dangerous woman. This change of track that he has taken his bystanders on has been able to maintain one constant factor of the equation, the Christopher Kaness of it all. Its so early in his career to say something like this but his range of exploration has proven that his name will only continue to grow and influence the future and history of fashion.

These uber-tailored concoctions convey what class might look like in a bordello. In the colors of sugary frosting, Christopher Kane’s dresses are just as mouth-watering–they are the ultimate package for the female body, constructed with neon bondage, synching and cupping in just the right places.
