In collaboration with the H&M design team, UXUSwas invited to create the launch for the H&M Home Collection at their headquarters in Stockholm. The approach was to create a “gallery” of fun fashion home products which customers are encouraged to touch and explore.
H&M Home is a gallery/showroom using highly emotional product presentations, which verge on art, to encourage customers to engage with the brand.
As a Parisian, I can tell you that L’Eclaireur is THE best concept store in the French Capital – If you told me “and what about Colette?” I would tell you, Colette’s got the hype, L’Eclaireur got the class! Nothing comes close to them in Paris. Owned by French fashion connoisseur Armand Hadida and his wife Martine (owners as well of Parisian tradeshow Tranoi ). They already have 5 stores in Paris and 1 in Tokyo – This one is their 6th one, and they went pretty far into the concept, designed by Belgian Designer Arne Quinze. They decided to create a space different than any other boutiques, they wanted to prove that for selling fashion, it is not obligatory to show it, and this is why they decided to hide part of the clothes, leaving room for the percievers imagination.
Here is the review about the opening of their 6th store in 40 rue de Sévigné 75003 Paris.
With a mix of Art, luxury brands and technology like the Microsoft Table Touch or the 147 screens on the walls made of wood, cartons, polystyrene and aluminum, as well as the surprise walls that rise and fall, to accede the garments, the new l’Eclaireur store will definitely be THE new shopping destination spot in Paris…Can’t wait to see it !
How cool are the new windows of the Lanvin Faubourg Saint Honoré store in Paris, all the merchandising has been orchestrated by French artist Cyril Hatt.
1948 is Nike’s creative playground-retail store neatly tucked away in the old brick railway arches between Shoreditch High Street and Curtain Road in East London. In addition to displaying and selling shoes, 1948 offers an entire art floor for events, installations and a social meeting point.
This installation in 1948 was created by Finland-born illustrator/artist/designer Kustaa Saksi who creates retro-futuristic kaleidoscopic imagery, daunting and irresistible. This installation is all about the historical fun journey of the Nike running shoe. Saksi is a Finnsh illustrator and designer living and working in Amsterdam, via Paris for four years. Saksi sprawling scene creation has a pop-art, retro feel familiar to his other works, and it fits perfectly with Nike’s history as a brand. Saksi’s Volkswagen van and psychedelic colors illustrate the pre-swoosh era in an earnest and deliberately clunky way. Read the full story
Martin Margiela is always on top of the trends and when it comes to his store designs, they are simply art! I believe being a fan of Margiela’s collections goes hand in hand with loving their stores, I’ve been to bunch of them all over Europe, but this one recently opened in Munich, and it looks pretty clean and extremely well designed. (It was really hard to fine big pictures) The 270 sqm. store is located on top-notch maximilianstrasse and features both menswear and womenswear collections. location: maximilanstrasse 34.
Also I wish I could be there right now to check his 20 retrospective Exhibition: haus der kunst (on until june 1st) – More info Here
Belgian menswear designer Raf Simons has commissioned german-born, LA-based artist Sterling Ruby to use his tokyo boutique as a canvas. the installation transforms the store from a stark white space into something completely different with large splashes of blue paint.
This is Thousand Reason’s Why debut collection ” The Junk Generation.” Started by Ben Turner and Daniel Lindsay in Melbourne, the boys behind the brand are pleased to find their items stocked in stores across Australia.Their Summer 07/08 line is a fantastic plastic array of loud prints and colors and the theme revolves around the pleasures we encountered as children.
Part 1 & 2
A huge trend has risen lately in fashion; The Pop-Up Store. We have been following some of the freshest brands and Collectives popping-up in NY, LA, and London. what a better thing to do when you are visitng a place but throw together a store/ambiance where you can invite and host the people interested in your work. Paper Magazine hasnow taken it to another level. One hour ago I was at the launching of the 24 hour department store installation by Paper Magazine. what a brilliant idea and execution. I have been keeping an eye on their progress all week. They started setting up Monday to be ready by Tonight. i wanted to get there at exactly 6pm to see what it would be like outside, and as I predicted the line was growing fast and people were inpatient. I ran in to snap some pics and tell you guys all about it right away. the energy was great and the exhibitors were awesome. i cant wait to go back in the middle of the night to see what they are up to. Inside you will find exhibitors including Screaming Mimi’s, Opening Ceremony, Citizen-Citizen and many more.
More then 2 years post the Launch of Bernhard Willhelm’s first store in Shibuya, Tokyo, I’m still amazed of how Item Idem, (an amazing collective of hyper-crea; designers, artists, architect…which Bernhard is a part of) and the Japanese in general so are advanced in trends. The store is a reproduction of a Tokion bum’s lifestyle. As you can see below they are pushing the theme to the max !!
Los Angeles welcomes the new Maison Martin Margiela store. The exterior dazzles with sequence, each one individually nailed into the wall. If you live in LA, you should definitely check it out. It’s difficult to miss!
