CyanaTrendLand [via Alaia Izabela] provides the first internet leak of CTRL’s SS10 collection. The lookbook is incredibly large [at around 112 pages, no joke] but the colors, styling, photography, and models keep you hungrily flipping right through to the very end. Abundant are subtle acid wash denims in coral and black, as well as cropped and non-cropped jeans in plain black or white for both women and men.
Picked up this insane lookbook last year at Creatures of Comfort [and by insane that refers to the cover page photography, styling, and clothing alike]. With collections as ingenious as this, how could anyone ever be unimpressed with the German-born Bernhard Willhelm? He brings us dresses, coats, sweaters, and skirts with extreme volume and layering that manage to flatter with the addition of lines having obviously been lovingly placed with a woman’s body in mind. Bernhard Willhelm’s name is synonymous with the words quirky, adventurous, vibrant, and playful but what makes him so brilliant in his somewhat off-the-wall design aesthetic is the fact that every piece is still very much chic and wearable. It comes as no surprise that this now-Paris-local received the ANDAM Grand Prize as the most promising talent of the new creative scene.
A beautiful and interesting presentation from Danish womenwear label Stine Goya SS10 Collection – Presented during Copenhagen Fashion Week. The Central Saint Martins grad offered a delightful bright color palette with great gradient patterns, her jumpers and jackets are to die for! I see some inspiration from Dries Van Noten and Chloe, but Stine mixed it well with her own touch and presented a outstanding collection !

The latest collection of luxury Dutch denim label Blue Blood is beautiful! Inspired by 3 of Wes Anderson’s classics, The Royal Tennenbaums, a life Aquatic and The Darjeeling Limited. You can definitely sense the feeling of adventure in their s/s 2010 collection, made between Italy and Japan.
“Blue Blood is however more than denim only” says sales director Alex Jaspers; “Strikingly the explicit mix between hardcore denim and high fashion is what sets us apart from other brands. The much appraised Avelon-line (the designer part of the Blue Blood collection) is based on the universe and the devastating power of thunder and lightning this season. Vampire/S&M style is the first impression I had of new UK based Womenswear label: Afira – The Collection is inspired by the strong, dark, archetypal woman, glamorous, passionate and heroic, from both past and present. Vamps, femme fatales and dominant women tell the stories. Leather, straps and some sheer are the main fabrics for their first collection, apparently they dont have any stockists yet, as they have barely launched…Stay tuned.
Acid wash denim jackets, Fringe vests and jackets, leather stockings and oversize linen pants make up the summer 2010 women’s collection for Acne. Pretty much every upcoming trend is represented in this beautiful Acne collection.
Scottish designer, Holly Fulton, graduated 10 years ago from Edinburgh College of Art with a BA in Fashion and after graduating in 2007 with her MA at the Royal College of Art in London, is now showing her latest “art deco style” collection ! Shown as part of Fashion East, she has collaborated with CRYSTALLIZED Swarovski Elements to help add the extra sparkle to her stand out collection. Her style reminds me a lot of Mary Katrantzou. Yesterday I read an article from one of my favorite fashion journalists, Hadley Freeman, for the UK Guardian that made my day, week and even year. Now obviously we have been hearing this news since September of 2008, but it was Hadley’s article supported by interviews with Phoebe Philo, Olivia Morris (Philo’s good friend), and Marco Gobetti (president of Celine) that really made the full impact of Philo’s return to the industry.
A intriguing woman to say the least…THE women’s designer of our generation, a mother to two youngens, a wife, and one of the best thing to happen to fashion in 2009…Phoebe Philo makes her comeback by joining Celine. I really could not imagine a more perfect liaison than this. I mean, a 3-year break after delivering the best in womenswear for 3 years at Chloe, should flourish seamlessly into the next step for Philo’s customer, who are starting to mature to a more sophisticated wardrobe. The next step for her Chloe customer is on its way and I can say in full confidence it will be delivered with a splash!
