The plastic electronic newspaper has gone from concept to reality in the last year. A scientist at Cambridge University tried replacing the silicon chips we use in most screens (think iPhone) with plastic. The result is a lightweight and super durable screen.
It seems like color is more like black & white on these devices but that’s what most books and newspapers look like anyways. PlasticLogics in Dresden, Germany is working on developing the device which would carry the latest newspapers, magazines, books and documents for its user; like an iPod for your text documents.
Some future uses for this plastic technology may include interactive product labels for food and medicines, slap-bracelet-style internet, screen integrated clothing and even internet-enabled contact lens.
We all know about the fight between Apple & Microsoft or Mac against PC, personally i’ve been raised on a PC, but since a switch to Mac, i totally forget Windows and all the viruses/updates/hidden files/crashes… Mac runs perfectly, nothing to say ! According to Project Aiko, she can conversate, read up to size 12 font, learn new things in conversations, can solve math problems visually, and is able to differentiate between colors, foods, and beverages. Future Aiko promises to have a more advanced taste bud system, develop a breathing system, enhanced functional ability like canceling your meetings and make appointments, relay your messages by email or MSN to any person from your address book, and best of all, she will come equipped with the ability to massage shoulders and neck.
