Of all the Pre Fall 09 Collection I have seen so for far, Zac Posen’s is by far the most exciting. Posen was able dial into a period by creating a collection that is closely inspired by the 1920’s – 1940’s, yet doesn’t look like anything we have directly seen from this time. I obviously love historical inspirations just as much as conceptual ones, but there is much more of a restriction in the historical reference which can take the ingenuity out of a collection based on something specific. I felt that Posen explored deep within this period and the limits of reinventing something fresh and new. I love the color palette, his take on the flapper dresses and most of all the military inspired power suit.

I’ll keep my review to a minimum to avoid preying on my disappointment. NY Womens SS09 fashion week was just Blah. Of course the Classic masters, Ralph Lauren and Jill Stuart, delivered up to par, but no one really managed to inspire me.
